A new chapter for sustainable agriculture and community nutrition has begun in Arteche, Eastern Samar as the Gulayamanan Arteche project officially takes its first steps forward.
Through a recently concluded Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing and site evaluation, this initiative marks a meaningful collaboration between the Local Government Unit of Arteche, Metrobank Foundation, and East-West Seed Foundation—all working together toward a shared goal: empowering farmers, improving nutrition, and strengthening local food systems.
At the heart of this pilot implementation are 50 dedicated vegetable farmers, each cultivating a portion of one hectare cluster garden, (each with 200 sq.m. of garden). More than just a farming project, Gulayamanan is about building opportunities—helping communities grow not only crops, but also knowledge, resilience, and sustainable livelihoods.
From seed to harvest, the program will support farmers with training, resources, and guidance on vegetable production—ensuring that families in Arteche have better access to fresh, nutritious food while creating additional sources of income.
This milestone is just the beginning. With strong partnerships and a shared commitment, Gulayamanan Arteche aims to become a model for how communities can thrive through agriculture—where every harvest contributes to healthier plates and brighter futures. 🌿
