VeggiEskwela Bootcamp Empowers Bantayan Farmers

The East-West Seed Foundation, Inc. successfully conducted a VeggiEskwela Bootcamp from July 7 to 10, 2026, in Barangay Kabangbang, Bantayan, Cebu, bringing together 33 participants, corn farmers from the Municipality of Bantayan, to learn sustainable vegetable gardening and production.

The four-day bootcamp was made possible through the partnership of PAGTAMBAYAYONG – A Foundation for Mutual Aid, Inc., Agrinex Marketing Inc. through Mr. Arthur E. Despi, and the local government units of Barangay Kangkaibe and Barangay Kabangbang in Bantayan, Cebu.

The training equipped participants with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in sustainable vegetable production. Topics covered included seedling establishment, crop management, soil health, integrated pest management, the preparation of organic fertilizer, and other good agricultural practices. Through interactive discussions and field demonstrations, participants gained valuable skills and techniques that they can apply in their own farms and communities.
