The East-West Seed Foundation (EWSF), in partnership with the Villar Foundation, successfully conducted the VeggiEskwela VeggiTech Training last September 29–30 in San Miguel, Iloilo. The two-day capacity-building program brought together local farmers and community growers eager to strengthen their knowledge and skills in sustainable vegetable production.

The training covered essential topics such as soil preparation, seedling management, crop protection, fertilization, and post-harvest handling—core competencies needed to enhance productivity and ensure healthier, more resilient crops. Participants also learned modern vegetable production techniques and practical field applications guided by EWSF’s technical experts.

Beyond technical knowledge, the training aimed to empower San Miguel growers to boost their household income, improve food security, and strengthen their roles in local agricultural development. With strong support from the Villar Foundation, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to uplift farming communities and promote inclusive growth through agriculture.

By the end of the training, participants expressed renewed confidence and enthusiasm in applying their learnings to their own farms and gardens. The VeggiEskwela VeggiTech Training continues to be a vital platform for capacitating farmers across the country, fostering sustainable practices, and cultivating success in every community it reaches.
